Nikkor 35mm f1.4 ais đánh giá

I sold my 24-70 zoom because of edge sharpness. My Tamron was good but only at 24mm. Switched to a Sigma 20mm f/1.4 and fell in love with mostly equal edge to edge sharpness. I have a Nikon 50mm f/1.2 and at f/4 smaller it is quite sharp equally.

However, I lack more focal lengths, and sometimes hiking trails do not allow one to get closer or farther back for landscapes.

So for size and well rearguard sharpness I got a 35-70 f/2.8 which seems quite nice. some mild sharpness reduction at the edge edge of the frame. Far less of an issue than my Tamron.

I was wondering if i should stick with the 35-70 Or if i'd enjoy 35mm F/1.4 and a 85mm to compliment my 50/1.2

The older Nikon Ai-s primes are pretty small by todays standarss so i could easily fit more of them in my bag.

The 35/1.4 is relatively heavy, but has nice sharp image quality at about f/2.8 and smaller. Wide open it has a dreamy, hazy look which can be interesting. The newer 35/1.4 G has sharp-across-the-frame image quality right from f/1.4, but it's larger due to AF.

Landscapes I'dd mostly be at f/8 - f/11. less sharp haze at wider aperture is okay as it would suit any close focus images.

Weight is an issue for my for these less used FLs. They'd basically sjut be sued at cheaper backup if a need for such FL comes along. Something to always be in my bag while hiking sinze I dropped my zoom for a large heavy 20mm prime which i;d use 95% of the time.

if you're happy with the 50/1.2 you will be very happy with the 35/1.4 i sold my 50/1.2; i don't see parting with the 35/1.4 in the foreseeable future, it's a reliable performer, glued to my D810 semi-permanently. i hike and travel a lot

it feels heavy in hand (not when mounted) but it's "condensed" and well-balanced mass--not many 1.4 wides out there with 52mm filter

Not great for the money

A decent performer in it's time, but well over-priced now for the performance.

Wide open the performance is quite poor, it suffers lots of aberrations, coma, CA, flare and the image is really quite soft at the corners. It's performance "window" will be quite narrow but within that capable of stunning shots.

But used prices are also around £500 on E-Bay. So unless you rely on a combination aberrations in a lens to give your images "character", and you willing to accept that outside that narrow window of performance and stopped down for landscape it's performance will be only average, beaten by modern lenses, go for something new.

If you're landscaping with it the a 35/1.8 G would be a better all-round performer, new at the same price and with a guarantee.

I sold mine a year or two ago and miss it quite a bit. In retrospect I should have kept it, it had a very unique character and the only other lens I own which has a similar character is also the 50mm f1.2 ais. Here's what the 35mm f1.4 is like:

When I did own it, it was my favorite lens for food and for random street photos.

A 35 mm with the character of 50/1.2, this thread now has gotten me interested in this lens, bugger.
