Plot and locationCall of Duty: Advanced Warfare is set in an alternate future in the year 2054. Six months after enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, Private Jack Mitchell and his best friend Private Will Irons were sent to Seoul, South Korea, to repel a large North Korean invading force. The two are recruited into Badger Squad with Sergeant Cormac and Private Jackson. The squad launches a landing pod from Seoul, but is thrown off course by North Korean air defenses, which is just the beginning of their problems. Terrorists are simultaneously attacking nuclear reactors in North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa, disrupting governments and crippling defenses around the world. As a result, the United States calls on the help of the Atlas Corporation, a private military company led by Jonathan Irons. But while the Atlas Corporation helps bring down the KVA terrorists and the world recover from nuclear disasters, it is later revealed that it was all a ruse for Irons to attempt a takeover of the world. GameplayCOD: Advanced Warfare takes a sci-fi turn for the franchise, bringing players to the battlefields of the future by introducing new high-tech weaponry and skill sets that equip players with new gear, technology, perks, and vehicles such as hoverbikes and highly specialized drones. Advance Warfare's multiplayer highlights the return of some older mechanics, such as the Black Ops II Pick-10 Create-A-Class system. COD: Advanced Warfare also introduces new gameplay features that allow players to customize Scorestreaks. But this increases the number of points required to earn this reward. The new reward system grants supply drops for completing tasks. These supply vary in rarity, ranging from Enlisted (common), Professional (uncommon), and Elite (rare). Advanced Warfare players can also choose between standard ammo and an all-new class of directed energy weapons that allow for all-new gameplay dynamics. Additionally, the new exoskeletons can provide powerful power multipliers and previously unavailable tactical options. Visuals and other featuresCall of Duty: Advanced Warfare customization has been revamped with a new Operator system. Players can customize individual clothing items to suit their character. Similar to Call of Duty: Ghosts, players can choose their gender in multiplayer. Players can also check their other customizations such as Emblems, Calling Cards, check their Combat Records, and more. New modes include Exo Survival, which is is a turn-based survival mode, similar to Call of Duty: Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Ghosts Survival mode and Safeguard mode, respectively. It takes 1 to 4 players to survive waves of enemies that grow stronger with each round. Furthermore, by completing Stages 1, 2, and 3 of Exo Survival, players will unlock a unique Stage 4 map called Riot. This starts as a normal match, with a Manticore Strike ending Round 10, knocking down all players, and a small event. Triggers that last for about 10 seconds. All players can then move again in Round 11. However, this is when Zombies begin spawning everywhere on the map. With the Havoc DLC, the Exo Zombies multiplayer maps become available. It includes one from each map pack being Outbreak, Infection, Carrier and Descent, for a total of four.
