The new adidas Pureboost 23 are running shoes that feature some of the most outstanding technologies of the brand and that we can also use for our daily routines.

The adidas Pureboost 23 is a running shoe that is largely made from recycled materials, a bet more of the German brand, like the vast majority of major brands in the market, for sustainability.

adidas presents in this shoe a lightweight engineered mesh upper that also helps to a great breathability, but without losing the support needed for our daily workouts.

Also note that the upper contains a minimum of 50% of its manufacture with recycled materials, a difference with respect to other models of running shoes of the German brand.

The heel part of the shoe has protections in the lower area and also in the Achilles heel to provide that extra stability in our workouts.

The adidas Pureboost 23 features BOOST technology in the full-length midsole for efficient energy return, allowing the foam to compress and expand as you run.

The adidas Pureboost 23 is a running shoe intended for those runners of medium weight, even light, who need a shoe without any big bragging rights or technologies, for their training on asphalt and at slower rather than faster paces.

In terms of distances, this adidas model is designed for short and medium (at most) distances. It is a shoe that, thanks to its great comfort and good cushioning, is somewhere between a daily training shoe and also for use in other activities.

In the technical specifications section we highlight the drop of the shoe, it is located specifically in the 10mm, a drop suitable for those daily workouts at leisurely pace for which the shoe is intended.

The weight of the adidas Pureboost 23 is slightly above 300 grams in the men's version and below in the women's version, weighing 311 grams and 269 respectively.

In summary, we have in the adidas Pureboost 23 an ideal shoe for those daily workouts that has some of the most outstanding adidas materials but does not incorporate the most advanced technologies that can be found in models intended for a more intensive use by many running fans.

When I opened the box and saw the PureBOOST DPR, I thought, this trainer is SWEET looking, is it a fashion model or is it a real running shoe. I went online to a running shoe forum and asked if anyone had run in the PureBOOST DPR, and what did they think of it. The response wasn’t that overwhelming. Many runners thought that the upper and midsole didn’t work well together. I disagree and found the adidas PureBOOST DPR to be a fun shoe to run in with looks of a super model.

The knit upper on the PureBOOST DPR is the most comfortable from adidas that I have tried. It is beautiful in its simplicity. The heel counter and ankle collar have a suede like material that cradles the foot and feels sublime against the skin. The only reinforcement to the structure of the upper is some welded overlays on the interior of the knit that mimics the three stripes. This treatment helps lock the foot in over the arch, but is invisible to the feel or look of the shoe. Very stealthy adidas.

Before we get to the midsole, adidas has added in an insole over a grid of material that keeps the BOOST from getting crazy. BOOST wants to fly off in every direction. Just like a child, it needs guidance. The web of material and the web of rubber on the outsole create the balance. The outsole is not Continental Rubber like on the UltraBOOST and EnergyBOOST, but I found it durable with little noticeable wear after several running miles and wearing them around casually.

I have mixed emotions about BOOST as a midsole material. It offers long lasting cushioning and loads of energy return, but it is heavy, and because it needs lots of webbing to keep it under control, it makes the shoe gain weight. This model comes in at 10.45 oz. for a size 10.5. Not crazy, but there are lighter options for daily trainers. If you like BOOST, this shoe is all about that BOOST life. It is PureBOOST.

The Bad

adidas Pure BOOT DPR is a straight up neutral shoe, not a bad thing, but if you like support in any form, this isn’t a shoe for you. The weight being concentrated in the midsole and outsole did not bother me. However, I can see why some did not like the way the dynamic plays out. The price is on the high side at $150. dang. No women’s model either, what the hey.

adidas PureBOOST DPR Conclusion

I like this shoe. I like the style. I like the ride. The PureBOOST DPR is my favorite adidas model right after the adios. The two shoes would work well together as a training duo, PureBOOST DPR for daily runs, adios for speed work and race day. The PureBOOST has an 8mm drop and runs true to size, stick with your regular running shoe size.
