Back when I was still beginning to blog, I have become totally fascinated with BB creams. I bought all the BB creams that I think will work for me and believe me, it was all a trial and error process so I tried using some of the worst and of course, the best.

Through my Korean cosmetics journey, one most common question I receive is about BB creams. The questions all break down to: “What’s your favorite BB cream?”. This even made a spot to my “About me/FAQ” section. I have a couple of favorites but let me reveal one BB cream that I have been consistently using for the past 3 years.

Yes! It’s something from The Face Shop. Face it! Power Perfection BB Cream in Natural Beige.

To give you an idea, here’s a brief background about my skin:

1. Very sensitive skin (sometimes reacts to talc and fragrance)
2. Skin becomes red quickly when exposed to heat (sun/lasers/steam)
3. Acne scars & huge pores (particularly left cheek)
4. Oily face (T-Zone, cheeks & chin)
5. Dull skin (pale face & dark circles)

Oh yes, I am not the most blessed person on earth when it comes to skin. If only I have perfect skin, I won’t be wasting money on foundations or BB creams, like really. kkk~

“Andy, you’ve got so many BB creams, CC Creams, Foundations etc..When on earth do you use this one?”

I use The Face Shop’s Power Perfection BB on my bad skin days. When I got crazy pimples or spots I want to cover, this is one of the options I run to. Though actually, when my skin is irritated, I prefer not wearing makeup at all to avoid aggravation, but then there are times I have to be somewhere that..well..puts me in a situation where I don’t want to scare people off.

PACKAGING:

The BB cream’s bottle has a pump so you do not have to worry about the mess. The packaging is quite sleek that it can actually fit inside a pencil case! kk~ This bottle contains 40g worth of product so with decent amount of usage, this will last you for about 6 months to even 1 year.

SWATCH:

I’ve got yellow undertones so I am pretty glad this one suits me well. To be honest, a lot BB creams I’ve tried from The Face Shop turns grey on me. This one doesn’t and it suits my skin tone perfectly. No need to mix it with other shades. It also has SPF 37 PA++ so I can skip using my sunblock.

I’ve read some reviews saying this one has a dewy finish but I believe this one is semi-matte to matte. It does not leave any gloss, just like how I prefer my make up to be. If you do not like any dewiness going on, then this is perfect for you. As for me, I mix this with a luminous base or a shimmer pearl base for more glow.

MY THOUGHTS:

For Dry Skin: This can be a little drying because of its semi-matte finish. I used this once before when my skin was a bit flaky because of my acne regimen and it did not hide my dry patches. But then, what I do is just moisturize my face first or mix it with a moisturizer/base and it’ll be perfect.

For Oily Skin: Like what I mentioned earlier, I’ve got very oily skin so I think I am in the right place to say that this has great oil control. kkkk~ Without retouching, this lasts up to 12~13 hours on a scorching hot weather, no kidding! Lasts longer than my Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation and Missha 12hr foundie!! It does not cake up as well, alone or with a powder over it.

It’s not a very cheap BB cream, but I would say it’s definitely worth the price. Here in the Philippines, it costs for around 1,500pesos ($33). But then anyway, a little goes a long way so this will definitely last for a very long time (just be careful not to exceed beyond the expiration date~! kkk). This BB cream offers medium to full coverage and is great for covering obvious marks. It will actually save you from using your concealer! Every time I want more coverage, I just dab a bit more on the area that needs to be covered.

I still have more favorite BB creams/CC creams/Foundations to share with you! I’ve got them all lined up! I’m just hoping I can go squeeze them all in before my busy season kills me.

Now I am really thinking if there’s any BB cream I haven’t tried yet. What’s you holy grail BB cream?
