Sony a7 ii vs a6500 đánh giá năm 2024

Looking to jump into the FF game. The a7iii is an option but I would have limited funds for lenses (possibly only the kit, is that worth it?).

Is selling the a6500 for the a7ii plus some quality lenses and good option?

I'm a beginner so I figured I could learn on the a7ii with better lenses. When I upgrade to the a7iii in the future, i'll have good glass.

Does this make sense? I know the a6500 is a great camera but I am eventually going to move up to a FF so what should I do?

Stills (portrait, landscape, walk around). and some basic video.

I shoot with an A7III, A7II and an A6000.

If you have good APS-C lenses for the A6500, and no FF glass, you have a lot to consider.

Portraits and landscapes don't require autofocus, so you could do very well with an A7II and inexpensive film-era lenses on an A7II. When shooting at ISO 3200 or higher, the difference will be immediately obvious. For less than $200, you could buy a Canon FDn 28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4 and 135mm f2.8, and - with a $20 manual-focus adapter, begin enjoying the better high-ISO, thinner DOF and larger sensor size of the A7II.

Of course, if you invested a bit under $400, you could buy the TechArt Pro autofocus adapter and an FD-to-M adapter, and make all 3 lenses autofocus on the A7II ***AND*** the A6500.

I just bought a mint Canon FDn 200mm f4, and on the TechArt, it performs magnificently:

f4

Cost of that mint Canon FDn 200mm f4 on eBay: $64, including shipping.

At base ISO (100), you will be hard pressed to tell whether an image on your hard drive was shot with the A7II or the A6500, except for the thinner DOF of the A7II. The advantages really become obvious at high ISO.

Those are my first-hand observations.

Moving from the 6500, I think you would be happier going to the 7III. The 7II leads to you back to older technology.

If it were me, I'd hold on to the 6500 until I could move forward.

I did the jump from a6000 to a7ii and I'm not disappointed. My thought was that I didn't wanted to invest further in apsc glass knowing I will at some point move to FF. I couldn't afford the a7iii but anyway it's better to invest in glass as I will keep them once I'll upgrade the body later.

I bought an A7II early this year when the price dropped to $1098 ($1298 w/kit lens) at B&H. That's also the current price, and either way I think that's a very good value.

For the kind of shooting you're doing (and what I mostly do), IMO there's not a compelling need for the advantages of the newer models. For sports, tracking birds in flight, etc. the 3rd gen A cameras are better.

I liked the A7II so much that when my birthday came around I bought an A7RIII to get basically more of the same, but there's nothing I've done with it that the A7II could not have done. It was a luxury, not a need, to upgrade.

I've kept the A7II as a backup; if anything happens to the A7RIII while I'm traveling, I know I'll still be able to get the photos I want. It's a fine camera.

A6500 has a far better AF system and far better video than the A7II. The A6500 buffer is 5x bigger, the burst rate is more than double, and the camera is night and day faster in general.

In many respects the A6500 is a better camera but the A7II sensor has the advantage at high ISOs.

I think the A7II is excellent value for the money but I would definitely push you in the direction of the A7IIi if your budget can stretch that far. You could still use affordable legacy glass on the A7III if you wanted multiple lenses, but I will also recommend the FE 28mm f/2 and the 85mm f/1.8 as two of the best lenses for the system. The new Rokinon 35mm f/2.8 is also worth considering as it's priced very reasonably and the new Tamron 28-75mm is an affordable sharp 2.8 standard zoom.

At the end of the day I think the A7III is an absolute steal for what it provides at it's current retail price. That price will obviously come down as time passes so perhaps the A7II now and the A7III later when the 4th gen is out. I just dont know how I'd feel about giving up such a capable camera in the A6500 for older and slower tech.

The short answer is no

In reply to Jeepin75 • Aug 24, 2018

I have both these cameras and unless you absolutely need a FF body this upgrade would not be worth it, especially if you are selling the 6500 to finance the a7ii

they make a great pair to have but having used both and If I had to choose one over the other I would still go with the a6500

He doesn't do any sport photography and he didn't say anything for the video so the no advantages of the a6000 over the a7II IMO and no need to go a7III neither. Better DR and high iso are more valuable for the kind of pictures he is doing. And overall pictures are better from the FF sensors and you have more room for editing with FF raw from my experience with the a6000, the test I did with a6500 and my a7II.

Don't let the naysayers fool you.

The A7iii ups the sensor IQ (DR/color/ISO) and ups the AF speed (alike A6500, instantly) and accuracy.

So fewer missed 'action shots' and better low-light capability.

Does this mean that the A7ii is substandard? I don't think so.

I would take an A7ii with an upgraded (prime) lens any day over the A7iii with just the kit lens.

If you want to dabble in FF and see how it works for you, I would not be hesitant to go for the A7ii.

Now, if you plan to make money with action photography, the A7iii is a better bet.

And yes, a future upgrade will be cheaper than purchasing the unit today...

I have both the A6500 and the A7ii. I much prefer using the A6500 as i find the focusing speed and accuracy better on the A6500. Also, the A6500 has electronic shutter but the A7ii doesn't. The A7ii takes wonderful pictures but I'm right now thinking of selling the A7ii and get the A7iii.

I think I may hold off on the a7ii and get some lenses for the a6500 and upgrade to a7iii in the next 6 months or so.

What lens should I invest in for the a6500 (that I could eventually use for the a7iii)? You have some great ones in the 35 2.8 and the 55 1.8. Would one of those be a high quality addition?

I wouldn't replace the A6500 to A7II. Very little upgrade, if any in summary. I would buy a good F1.4 FF glass to counter the low light ability of APSC, and then sit back, relax and wait until the A7III becomes affordable enough.

Depends on what focal lengths you like. I personally like 35mm on FF and the 35/2.8 is my favorite lens on the A7ii. A 35mm on an APS-C body would be like shooting with a 52mm lens on FF.

he is talking about the a6500 not the a6000 the jump from a a6000 to an a7II would be a no brainer but the differences between the a6000 and the a6500 are quite a bit

completely different and better AF system with Eye AF which the a7II isn't that good at plus IBIS vastly more and better video options the main difference in the jump between an a6500 and A7II is mainly FF vs cropped as the a6500 is a better camera in every other aspect other than its not a FF

but you are right for his needs portraits landscapes basic video the A7II may be a better fit but putting myself in this position using both these bodies would have a hard time parting with the a6500 to go with a one generation back FF I would be putting my money into FE glass and waiting for the A7III to drop in price before making that move

plus the price of A6500 is dropping pretty quick on the used market so he would loose significant money if he's buying the A7II new

I personally would not do it but I don't control his money so thats a mute point

Thanks for your reply Aaron! I have decided to go the route to save for the a7iii while building my lens collection. What would you recommend as a good prime that I can buy now and use with my a6500 & use it for my a7iii. 35 2.8, 55 1.5, Sigma Art lens, another lens?

Well that completely depends on your budget but personally I would highly recommend the 28mm f2 it is a great lens on both FF and cropped and is priced right I personally don't own the 35mm 2.8 but i personally could never justify paying what they want for that lens at that price it should be at least a 1.8 that price for a 2.8 is insane when compared with others that are both faster and cheaper 30mm 1.4 sigma 35mm 1.8 tamron VC

I have the sony 55mm 1.8 and it is a great lens but it is pricy another good 50mm to start with would be the 50mm 1.8 it has its limitations (slow noisy AF) but for the price it is a very good performer but I don't think it would be anywhere close to the sigma 50mm art

the other one I can highly recommend is the the sony 85mm 1.8 it is a fantastic lens super sharp and great bokeh for portraits

One lens I truly enjoy is the sony 90 macro it is the sharpest lens I have ever used and when I am just out walking I am usually with three lenses the 28f2 the 55f1.8 and the 90 macro it is a great trio for me and all work great on both FF and crop
