By Shweta Keshri: Bigg Boss 14 is about a month old now. Yet Bigg Boss fans aren't over the previous season. While on the one hand, the new season has failed to grab eyeballs, on the other, the last season, Bigg Boss 13, is still fresh in their mind. Can't really blame anyone, given that we have done and seen so little on TV this lockdown year. No wonder then that Bigg Boss 13 winner Sidharth Shukla was called to kickstart the new season too. But why was Bigg Boss 13 such a massive hit with viewers?

To start with, Bigg Boss 13 had many popular faces which included Sidharth Shukla, Rashami Desai and Devoleena Bhattacharjee, and not-so-popular ones like Asim Riaz and Shehnaaz Gill who made a permanent place in the hearts of BB viewers.

There were many factors that worked in Bigg Boss 13's favour. From controversies to love affairs to emotional drama, the show had it all. The show was such a huge hit that it had to be extended by a month and instead of January, the finale was held in the month of February.

WHAT MADE BIGG BOSS 13 A HUGE HIT?

Sidharth Shukla: The Bigg Boss 13 winner was certainly one of the major attractions of the show. If one took Shukla out of Bigg Boss 13, the show wouldn't have been the same. From his friendships, banters, to his fights, fans loved it all. He was a one-man army in the BB house and proudly said that he didn't need anyone to win the show.

SidNaaz: Sidharth Shukla and Shehnaaz Gill's chemistry on Bigg Boss 13 was the talk of the season. Shehnaaz was quite possessive of Sidharth and she had no qualms in saying it aloud. She often expressed her love for the actor on the show. Their cute banter and fights were loved by all. While Sidharth and Shehnaaz have their respective fan following, SidNaaz has a dedicated set of fans.

Rashami Desai: Rashami Desai, who had been offered Bigg Boss several times before 2019, finally said yes to the 13th season. Dil Se Dil Tak fans were intrigued to see Sharvari (Rashami Desai) and Parth (Sidharth Shukla) together in real life. Rashami and Shukla were initially cordial to each other, but later, they often got into heated arguments. Remember the infamous 'aisi ladki' comment? Rashami's real-life boyfriend Arhaan Khan was also on the show. However, the actress broke up with him after finding out about his daughter.

Asim Riaz: The Jammu boy won many hearts on Bigg Boss 13 and left behind popular names to become the first runner-up of the show. His popularity rose to great heights after appearing on Bigg Boss. Asim began his journey on the show as a good friend to Sidharth Shukla, who later got into major fights with Shukla and became his archnemesis. He also found love in the BB house in singer Himanshi Khurana.

Shehnaaz Gill: The Punjabi singer-actress was one of the most entertaining contestants of the season. Her video, where she is seen talking to a crow, went viral. She often did crazy things in the house. She had a vibrant presence and was loved by the audience.

BIGG BOSS 13 RATING BROKE ALL RECORDS

Bigg Boss 13 ended with a bang, garnering 10.5 million impressions, according to the data released by BARC India. Bigg Boss 13 came to an end on February 15, 2020, with Salman Khan announcing Sidharth Shukla as the winner. Asim Riaz was the runner-up of the show. Bigg Boss 13 had emotional drama, violent fights, major showdown and love stories. All in all, BB 13 had all the ingredients of a great blockbuster.

Bigg Boss 14 sure needs a lot of catching up to do.
