Hướng dẫn dark souls 3 mod graphics

There are many fix guides out there, but this one I feel is the most complete, cohesive, and helpful. It contains the same links from the pinned threads in the Discussions section, albeit with more up-to-date versions of things. This guide will help fix online issues as well as graphical issues. Mouse fixes, "crashing on start", and controller information have been added. Enjoy Dark Souls! (Add me for "helping hand")

Introduction

This game is fantastic, however, the port from consoles is not.

If you've just bought this for Steam, there are a few steps you need to take before you can start your adventure. This is due to inexperience on behalf of the programmers in charge of bringing this game from console exclusivity to the PC gaming world. The community has come up with the solutions for your issues, step by step in order of importance.

If you don't feel like looking over this thoroughly or alone, watch me go through it. Open the video in a browser to view the time stamps, or check my profile for "Videos".

People report some of these mods possibly being the cause of crashes, but that is not usually the case, unless you use additional software in conjunction with Dark Souls(or any game) that conflicts with what the mods do. This is not to fault the mods of the game - Just search up on your DS history and you'll understand why this game is janky in the technical department.

Step One: Disable in-game AA

This anti-aliasing setting does no good, and causes the game to run improperly, if at all. If you cannot access the game or main menu, try Step Two.

Step Two: Download DSFix 2.4

Get it here[www.dropbox.com]. This is a link to a dropbox account owned by a reputable Global Moderator(Zefar). Unzip and extract the contents into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA (just needs to end up in the DATA folder, if the pathing is different for you.) Unzipping a file requires software that compresses and decompresses software. Get "WinRAR" from its official website and follow install instructions. Windows 10 may come with its own version, but not all do.

This mod is absolutely necessary to edit all important graphics settings, specifically if your monitor refresh rate is an uncommon number, or if your computer struggles to run the game at a playable frame rate. If you want Dark Souls at 60fps, in 4k, then there's even more reason to get this mod. Note that 60fps may cause minor bugs in the game - the most severe is a ladder glitch. Take caution when sliding down... ;)(happens one or two places)

sajtt is someone who is very active in assisting with the everyday problems people report in the discussions section. He made this guide to help get you started in configuring the mod(and possibly understand it better)

If you're having trouble starting the game and completing Step One, download Morten242's User Interface for DSFix [www.nexusmods.com]to edit the in-game AA setting from outside of the game. Note: DSfix's AA and Dark Souls' AA are not the same setting. DSfix's AA may need to be switched to different modes, depending on the Graphics Card/Drivers, as a crash can occur.

Step Three: Anti-Cheater aka Watchdog

Get it here from nexusmods.[www.nexusmods.com] This also ends up in the DATA folder.

Not only does this let you know when an obvious cheater has entered your world, it lets you kick them out. Additionally, it displays your current node count. Nodes represent players that you may connect to, if the in-game conditions(level range, boss alive, invasion timer is 0) are met. This feature is more helpful for notifying you that you're connected to the online matchmaking service(see Step Four). Lastly, this anti-cheater will block cheaters from applying extremely negative effects to your character through their cheating means. Essential, if you want to enjoy online.

A player can bypass Watchdog's effects, given extensive knowledge of the game's data and use of third-party programs to run scripts. These players could theoretically be reported for harassment, as the sole purpose of this behavior is to cause game-breaking effects to people indiscriminately, thus inciting fury and a handful of unrequited feelings.

Note that this is far less common than you'd think, but the sole reason nothing is done about it is that people report it as cheating. Fromsoft would be in charge of handling the cheating accusations, but they've opted out of any action in regards to any steam reports. If a player bypasses Watchdog to cause you dread, that is no different than someone who is banned from a social collective coming up with false identities to get back in and cause disturbances. So, make more serious reports about this kind of behavior.

Step Four: DSCM aka Connectivity Mod

Download it from here[www.nexusmods.com].

Got no online?? Steam's method of assigning nodes to players is very much broken. It will eventually grant you nodes, after hours of playing, and those node may be of players that are nowhere near the in-game conditions for multiplayer with you. This application replaces that function entirely, and simply.

Place it on your Desktop or wherever is convenient, and always run it as an administrator. This application runs quietly in the background while you play. You can start it before or after starting Dark Souls, and it will attach itself, and then begin providing you with nodes when you connect to DSCM-net. Note that this mod requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5+.

Step Five: Keyboard and Mouse fix

For proper function of K&M, a user by the name of Methanhydrat has made this mod[www.nexusmods.com] to provide better functionality to the mouse function of the game. This is the final version in lieu of the mod below...

As of the 23rd of May, 2017, Dark Souls Input Customizer[www.nexusmods.com] now exists to fully customize input commands. Now you can map crazy things to crazy combinations of buttons(such as blocking with shift + space). Imagine using the shift key as a modifier key... also made by Methanhydrat. I'm told that this also might fix some wonky control schemes on PS3/PS4/360/XB1/Steam Controllers!

There is another, older fix that can be gotten here[www.nexusmods.com]. This is more well-known by veterans of the community as it has been around for several years. Made by "lebbers".

These aren't 100% necessary to enjoy the game, especially if you're a minimalist of mods. However, they are very effective in what they do and are worth a try. They all require DSFix, most require .NET Framework 4.6+.

Controller information

The following is general information given by the community that suggests options for different controllers that you may be using. These are meant to be relevant only to Dark Souls, and might not function well with other games.

Playstation 3/Dualshock 3/replicas

  • Bluetooth support available
  • Scarlet Productions Drivers; Automapping mostly reliable; Wired or Bluetooth
  • Steam's Custom Button Mapper(big picture mode) possibly compatible.

Playstation 4/Dualshock 4

  • May setup and automap correctly and automatically with Windows 10(wired)
  • Bluetooth supported
  • DS4Windows; must select "Hide DS4" in settings for proper function w/ DS:PTDE; Wired or Bluetooth; random issues likely
  • Steam's Custom Button Mapper(big picture mode) compatible.

Xbox 360 wired

  • Automatically installs software in Windows 10; Automapping mostly reliable
  • Microsoft's official 360 for Windows driver(find it on their website); Manual device setup required on Windows 8.1 and earlier.
  • Steam's Custom Button Mapper(big picture mode) possibly compatible.

Xbox 360 wireless

  • Must have wireless dongle/wireless 360 receiver(USB) for Windows(cheap on New Egg)
  • Automatically installs software in Windows 10; Automapping reliable
  • Microsoft's official 360 for Windows driver(find it on their website) required for the Dongle plug-in; Manual setup in 8.1 and earlier.
  • Steam's Custom Button Mapper(big picture mode) NOT compatible.

Xbox One

  • Wired automatically installs software in Windows 10; Automapping reliable
  • Wireless requires a USB receiver(I think)
  • Windows 8.1 and earlier requires manual setup.
  • Steam's Custom Button Mapper(big picture mode) NOT compatible.

Generic controllers(blanket term)

  • Drivers should be included in purchase package; Set controller to "default gaming controller/gamepad etc"
  • x360ce; Emulates a 360 controller; Has conflicts with Nvidia drivers; Can manually remap generic controllers to match your preferences.
  • Steam's Custom Button Mapper(big picture mode) possibly compatible.

Some help for non-functioning x360ce:

Crashing on startup

A FAQ(frequently asked question) is how to fix the infamous "crashing on start" issue. This is caused by a wide variety of things, stemming from old age of the game and creeping incompatibility with modern OSs and devices. Here are a couple suggestions:

Try unplugging any controllers before starting the game.

Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date, and if they are, reverting to earlier version may help you.

Try unplugging headphones or setting headphones to "Default Audio Device" if you are playing on a TV.

Always run Steam/Game as administrator.

Clear Steam's Download Cache. In the Steam Client, click Steam in the top left > Settings > Downloads > bottom of window is Clear Download Cache. This might fix other issues as well.

Make sure you edit the DSFix.ini settings appropriately, or search guides on how to improve the graphics using the notepad.

Make sure you don't have any other overlays or graphics wrapper thingies installed/running on Dark Souls(you would have had to install them yourself at some point).

Make sure the GPU control panel settings aren't directly conflicting with the game. Allow Dark Souls to control graphics settings.

If you have uninstalled the game already, you must delete the remaining contents of the Dark Souls:Prepare to Die Edition folder in the Steamapps folder. Then do a clean install, and attempt to run the game as if you were sitting down to play on a regular day(no changes to setup)

Use the search function in the General Discussions tab, search "Crash on start" and find other people's solution, if I can't help you.

PvP resources(fix for gud-not-gitting)

I figure, since people have favorited this guide, I should give them a little something extra to come back to each time. That something will be in the form of some direction for getting better at a rather complex and typically infuriating multiplayer mechanic: PvP. I do not recommend viewing this section of the guide until you have completed the game

Here is a link to a discussion-based guide, named "PvP tips for beginners. For the Win!". This is actually itself a glossary of other guides and resources of information, rather than being a specific guide or instruction on a subject. The information within can push you very far beyond the skill ceiling of other players, depending on your own wits and patience. This is the path towards self-actualization: https://steamcommunity.com/app/211420/discussions/0/364042262880883197/

Here's some links to "meta" set-ups, or in other words, builds and various gear combinations that prove very effective in PvP, due to harmonious balance of the various stats that do take quite a bit of time to understand on your own. Credit to crame for laying out the path to becoming a "tryhard":

"Optimized Armor Setups" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=797747166 "Strong Weapons" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=805438917

Might add more later...

Here is a word from yours truly about PvP: Don't try it if you're easily upset by other people. Seriously. Save yourself the trouble. If you can work through that, though, you'll not be terribly disappointed by the rewarding feeling of having made real and tangible progress towards becoming a formidable force within the community. Why would that matter? You are in charge of coming up with a reason.

Bottom line is that this is a game, and can facilitate highly-competitive play. Knowing that, you're bound to get destroyed by someone else with experience. Don't let this discourage you. Let your own destruction lead you to profound reconstruction. I dunno. Have fun, no matter what!

Conclusion

This isn't the omni-fix guide - if there are problems unrelated to the game itself causing crashes or poor frame rate, those need to be troubleshooted. Any problems you are experiencing in that regard can be solved in the comments section or by making a discussion thread.

I hope the fixes that are here have set you on the path of enjoyment and possibly even rage/salt, at the hands of the game's challenging world and enemies. Well, they get really easy after a while... Anyway, Praise the Whatever!(Dark? hmm)

Wondering what that thumbnail is? It's a meme I made last minute for this guide. So...

Durante is the creator of DSFix, as well as the GeDoSaTo downsampling tool. Amazing contributor.

Wulf repaired the community with help from his friends in making DSCM(Connectivity mod). Steam disabled online matchmaking auto-connection for Dark Souls, and his mod was able to bring it back despite that.

eur0pa created the PvP watchdog anti-cheat, which is extremely, extremely handy. If you want to avoid big problems at the hands of a nefarious cheater, his mod is the ultimate solution. It doesn't spot every cheater, but despite that, his contribution is just as grand.

lebbers created the old mouse fix, Methanhydrat created the new one.

I gathered the information here based on my experience with the members of the community(big props to them all), and I'm recognized as somebody who's usually always here to help with whatever problems potential or current players are having. Add me if you have issues(with the game lol)!
