So I had a scary week. My dad decided to have a trip to the hospital and worry everyone. He is mostly okay now, though I am willing to bet he still has some complaints. Either way, this one is for my dad. Don’t do that crap again.

So here is a review I have really been putting off. There is a few reasons why but I sucked it up so here it is. Real Grade 14 Strike Freedom Gundam.

Like normal I will be breaking down my review into three sections. First I will give my thoughts on the design of the mobile suit. Second, I will break down important notes about the build itself. Finally I will cover everything, good and bad, about the finished model before giving a final score.

The Design

SEED and I have a strained relationship. That strain being I refuse to watch it, and will continue to do so until I have no other options. Reviewing the anime on youtube is a problem like that. But that isn’t what we are here for. We are here to look at some gunpla.

Back on the topic of SEED, for the most part I don’t hate the mobile suit designs. Except SEED Zakus, those can die in a fire. So I feel the same way here, the design of the strike freedom isn’t bad. It has a slick design, futuristic and modern.

The colors are great too. Sometimes I rail against the standard hero colors but they are put to great use here. The red is appealing, especially for me. Two shades of blue are utilized, a navy blue as well as a nice bright shade. My favorite is the yellow. That is probably because it isn’t yellow.

The mobile suit uses gold all throughout; from the frame, to vents, and several places in between. Some people don’t like gold, but I love it. Ugly and in your face, just like me.

The Build

Real grades have their own issues that really need to be worked out when you build. The biggest is the pre-built frame. So snap the frame together and be prepared to have some gunpla yoga.

When you snap the frame together you NEED to work it a little. Before any armor goes on take the joints and flex them for a few minutes. Be extremely careful and slow, but soon enough they won’t feel as stiff. That is when you can start snapping other pieces on.

Because of the little wear you put on the joints they will be great, and the articulation of the frame is second to none.

Then comes snapping the armor on. While certain older real grades would have felt mostly the same up until now, here we have divergence. Putting the armor on is a real test and I am happy to say the strike freedom passed with a pretty okay grade. There were a couple snags on the torso but all in all it was good.

Then we had the backpack. The strike freedom backpack is an exorcise in frustration and anger. I was not impressed seeing that I had to sit and snap the same boring thing 8 times in a row. It wouldn’t have been nearly as bad if the wing frames were all the same. If that were the case I could have just turned my brain off.

Instead the wing frames were slightly different. That in and of itself is not a huge deal either. The pieces that snap on top of the wing frames are different too, but they are almost indistinguishable if you don’t pay attention. I don’t care how nice they look, it was irritating.

The last problem I have to note about the build is the shoulders. My brother calls them floating shoulders. There is a small half circle connection that clips onto a small section of arm.

Sure it looks fine when the arms are at the side but you try to move them at all and the shoulder armor pops off.

Other than that, it was a pretty damn good build.

Overall

I am really struggling with this one. I want to love the strike freedom so much. There are some definite problems you have to face, but some positives are sprinkled in. So you might want to keep reading to find which is which.

The accessories are above average. Beam sabers, a shield, a rifle… That is about as standard a gundam load-out that you could get. A couple of those have some solid points, the other drags it into the mud. But hey, you have a thousand hands to use them with.

So looking at this picture you can see a few things. The guns and the beam blades are the focal points. The two rifles get a little intimate with each other to make one giant gun. And you know what, it is beautiful. If you disagree you can fight me.

Oh, and the beam saber handles connect into a single double-sided blade. Darth Maul, enough said.

Then we have the shield.

The way this thing connects to the arm is terrible. It is loose and pops off with little effort. It doesn’t look that good either. If it were molded in the blue color it would be one thing, but the blue color is translucent stickers stuck on the back of a clear piece. Why? To piss me off. At least as far as I can tell.

To put the shield on the arm you must struggle to get the small red piece off, then stick it on the outside of the shield, before snapping the beam shield in place using 3 poorly fitted pegs.

Moving on from accessories we get back to some nice points again. The articulation with the armor on is just as good as when the frame was bare. 180 degrees of flex in the elbows and knees. The legs can move forward and to the side at 90 degrees. Even the feet have articulation, allowing them to stand flat at various angles. (If you can manage that, more on it later.)

This speaks for itself right?

The side skirt is a combination of a beam weapon and storage spot for beam saber handles. Not only that, it can rotate to the back skirt allowing you to attach the twin rifles to the side of the strike freedom. This is a feature I have never encountered before.

Speaking of features; of course, being a real grade, this kit has some standard ones. If you are familiar with real grades you are probably familiar with these but for the uninitiated here they are. First up is an opening cockpit.

Freedom gundam rg review moving ratio năm 2024

I wasn’t able to figure out if it had one at first, but I bumped it up and sure enough it did. This may not be magic for the MG builders among you, but it blew my mind the first time I made a real grade. Then there is some shifting armor on the arms and legs.

Past that there are a few other things to note. The backpack is heavy, crazy I know, so you need a stand. The torso likes to pop off a lot so careful about that, it will just slip right off of the waist unit. The peg that connects the legs to the waist unit is short so they like to fall off too.

Now we can start to wrap up the review here. Before my final thoughts I like to have a quick TL;DR section. Here I will give brief thoughts on the build quality, engineering, and my subjective enjoyment.

The build quality was average for a real grade, the frame had some issues to work on but I have come to expect that. The plastic is still nice, the stickers are passable. It is a bandai kit, on a technical level the quality is fine. Build Quality 7/10

The engineering is good. The connections are complex and fun to work with. most nubs are well hidden and the gimmicks are implemented admirably. The engineering is good, still I wish the frame was just a bit more solid and the backpack was easier to pose with. Engineering 7/10

The build was fun and engaging. My big hit to my enjoyment with this kit is the finished product. I love poses with shields and this kit doesn’t really accommodate that. Trying to do little intricate adjustments to posing is a losing battle too. Enjoyment 5/10

In the end, I can recommend the kit, but I have to REALLY stress the issues. If you don’t have space for the wings you can’t get the more appealing poses. Not to mention that a slight breeze can pop off a lot of important pieces. Still the build is really fun and it is beautiful. My mom doesn’t really comment on my builds but she felt compelled to say that the wings are beautiful when they are fully open. I have to agree. If you get the Kit make sure to have a stand at the ready. I got my strike freedom for 25 USD and that is just right for me. Pick it up around that price and you are good. Final Score 6. ̅99/10

Is the RG Freedom Gundam good?

From the United States. Bandai's 1/144 RG Freedom Gundam is an excellent kit. It's definitely one of the better and more impressive looking Real Grades I have assembled.

How strong is Strike Freedom?

Needless to say, Strike Freedom is no slouch when analyzing its power. Strike Freedom is fully loaded with armaments, from a beam cannon in its abdomen to railguns on its hips. It also contains all the standard Gundam equipment it comes with, like beam sabers and rifles.

How big is RG Strike Freedom Gundam?

RG - Real Grade: 1/144 scale: approximately 13cm tall. RG kits are great for builders who want to keep within the HG size but want more out of their kit.

What is the real size freedom Gundam?

A large crane was used to lift the Gundam's head 18 meters above ground, and technicians meticulously connected it to the body. As a result, the construction of the 18.03 meter-tall Life-Size Freedom Gundam Statue's body was completed.
