I can attest as to having purchased both versions that Steam is just better. The MS store version comes with a litany of issues while not necessarily deal-breaking individually, aggregates into a very unpleasant overall experience. Largely, I find it's due to the fact that the MS Store is not really a gaming platform and is instead more of a multipurpose app store. Hence, a lot of convenient supporting utilities and UI features you take for granted with Steam is just nonexistent in MS-downloaded apps.
