How do you save plants vs zombies progress Android?

Firstly, Plants Vs Zombies FREE is one of those games where, if you delete the app and reinstall it, you have to start from scratch. (It happened to me personally). There are also no cloud backup options as far as I know. This means that you'll have to look for a way to transfer the data manually.

There is a guide at https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Backup_guide#Android but you may have to root your tablet, thereby voiding your warranty. If you don't know what rooting is, it's basically modifying your phone/tablet system to gain deeper access to more fundamental things, e.g. if you want to overclock CPU, or edit system files. I recommend researching rooting if you don't know about it already, before moving on - it's quite technical. However, it also says that root "may" be needed, so maybe you won't have to.

If the above doesn't work non-root and you're not keen on rooting your tablet, I found this website: https://www.maketecheasier.com/move-game-progress-between-android-devices/ The second option recommends an app called Helium which could manually transfer your app's data without root. However, there are almost as many 1-star reviews as 5-stars.

I hope that helps. Things might get a bit technical. Make sure you backup anything important before meddling with the tablet's files. Good Luck!

I still can't figure out how to back up the game on SNS etc.

I can't root my device, tried using Carbon/Helium but failed. Is there any way I can back up the game save data without rooting my device?

After so many updates, I kinda expected a backup system...

rooting is pretty much the only way to backup this game. i think some of the angry birds have a backup or maybe some games use a cloud or something. would be nice for an option that doesn't require a root.

Just login with your google account, the progress will be saved on the cloud, on a fresh install login again thru the game and it will be saved at the last level you played.

I tried that, it didn't work. Linking my facebook account did not back up the game at all.

At least, it was in an older version that I tried.

pretty sure that doesn't save anything. like no games save the data unless they create a save file.

So I deleted the game and then re-installed it from the App Store without backing up my device first...I figured I was on the Game Centre so it should be fine...now I don't have my profile in-game. Did I mess up?

Do you have icloud?

JScriv (Topic Creator)5 years ago#3

Yes, it looks like it was last backed up last night. The Game Centre is included on the apps that use the iCloud. What do I do?

Reinstall it again, open the game, then it will ask you for a new profile, type anything and tap OK, then it will way it's downloading data. Once it's done downloading the app will restart itself and you should see your old profiles in there. If they don't show up, contact popcap support.

Thanks. So I shouldn't restore it from the back-up just yet?

According to the link below, you should be fine since you are backed up on iCloud:

I also wanted to try this, too. First of all, when I try to delete the app, is the "Do you want to keep online data for this" thing gonna show up? If so, what do I pick?

Make sure you back up your device before you do. If you press cancel, nothing will happen. If you want to delete the app, you have to delete the data as well. I thought it would be fine, since I was signed on in the Game Centre, and the iCloud. But I still don't have my profile. I could restore my device to a back-up I made a couple days ago, but I'm waiting to hear from Popcap.

Ok, I've just done everything and, as someone else on another topic stated, I got the packets again, but all the banners (Pinata Parties, 12 hour quests, ads) are gone. Hopefully they'll be back soon enough.

I reinstalled on android maybe couple of weeks ago to try and resolve my lack of ads available, it took until the next day for any ads to appear. It could be coincidence by my ad problem went away completely a couple of days later. Might also worth mentioning I get many more ads by watching from the store page.
