and 3K are held on the Saturday before the Half Marathon.Event dates: November 13, 2022 The Big International Marathon is a point-to-point course run on scenic CA Highway 1 from Big Sur to Carmel the last Sunday each April. Towering redwoods, crashing waves, coastal mountains and verdant pastures are featured on this bucket list course. The centerpiece of the course is the iconic Bixby Bridge, located at the halfway point of the race, where you’ll be greeted by a tuxedo-ed musician playing a Yamaha Baby Grand Piano. Registration drawings begin on July 15, 2018. For more information, visit bigsurmarathon.org The Last Chance Marathon Drawing will be held from November 17 – December 1, 2022Big news! Due to increased demand, we’ve opened up a couple hundred more spots in the April 30, 2023 Big Sur International Marathon. From November 17, 2022 to December 1, 2022, you’re invited to enter our Last Chance Random Drawing for the marathon distance. For a final shot at securing a spot on the starting line, be sure to sign up for the Last Chance Drawing starting November 17th!When you apply for the Last Chance Registration Drawing, you will complete a full registration form and enter your payment information. General Registration Random Drawing winners will be selected on December 6th. If selected, your application will be approved and your credit card will automatically be charged the registration fee and any additional purchases selected at check out. At that time, you will receive an email confirming your approval and no further action will be required to secure your entry.Guaranteed Entry spots are still available via Youth Fitness, Charity Entries, and Marathon Tours. Is it hard to get into the Big Sur Marathon?It should be noted the Big Sur Marathon DOES have a very strict six hour race time, but the qualifying times are not nearly as tough as some other races. The Big Sur Marathon is difficult to enter simply because it has so many people who want to run the race, mainly for its beautiful scenery.
How do you qualify for the Big Sur Marathon?ENTRY LIMITS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Marathon is limited to about 4,500 total entrants. All entrants must be 16 years or older, in good health and well trained. BSIM is a challenging course with a 6-hour cut-off time (13:45 per-mile pace).
How much is the entry fee for the Big Sur Marathon?The 2023 entry fee for Big Sur VIP is $665.
Where does the Big Sur Marathon start and end?The 11-Miler starts at 7 AM at Grimes Ranch on Highway 1. Click HERE to view the 11-Miler start map. The 12K and 5K begin at 7:35 AM at the marathon finish line at Highway 1 and Rio Road in Carmel.
