Since you are actually to the point the Windows Setup is formatting the Virtual Hard Drive then this is not a SCSI Driver issue as alluded to prematurely by polysulfide so you can ignore any SCSI Driver information at this time.

If I were in this position I would try the following...

If the Virtual Machine is still running I would press the Option key and select Power Off from the Virtual Machine menu and then close Fusion.

Using Finder I'd delete the Virtual Machine Package which by default should be in the Virtual Machines folder in your Documents folder of your Home folder.

Reboot the Mac.

Start Fusion and try create the Virtual Machine again.

Note: You may also want to consider upgrading Fusion to 1.1.3 first. I'd stay away from Fusion 2.0 until at least 2.0.1 or later due to all of the issues 2.0 has.

Have a look at as a guideline as to the type of information to include when asking questions.

What is the exact wording of the error message? (Screenshot if need be.)

What Version/Build Number of VMware Fusion?

What Type Virtual Hard Drive IDE or SCSI?

Are you using Windows Easy Install in Fusion or a manual install in Fusion?

Is the Windows CD an OEM or Retail disc and is it a Full Install or Upgrade version and what Service Pack Level is it?

Have you tried the CD on a different computer to verify it's bootable?

What Version of OS X?

What Model Apple Computer?

You need to use buslogic SCSI type and copy the oemsetup.tx files from the vmware tools drivers folder. You Need to make those drivers available in a virtual floppy image.

When starting Windows setup press f6 for additional drivers and mount your floppy. It'll find the drivers there and proceed to find your buslogic vmdk files.

If it was useful, give me credit

While that may be necessary it's may be premature to speculate until the OP has provided additional information. If the OP is using Windows Easy Install it should provide the driver automatically however if the user is installing manually with a SCSI Virtual Hard Drive then the driver is available for download already in Virtual Floppy Format.

\=========

If the Virtual Machine was created using Windows Easy Install or has a VMware SCSI Virtual Hard Disk you need to download the VMware SCSI Driver and set the vmscsi-1.2.0.4.flp file as the Floppy for the Virtual Machine in the target Virtual Machine's Settings sheet. This floppy image contains the VMware SCSI Disk Driver needed when booting with the Windows XP CD and you need to press F6 when it says "Press F6 if you need to install..." near the bottom of the Virtual Machine window and it will then prompt for the driver after it continues to load additional files. Just follow the prompts.

hx for your response. sorry for the lack of info, new to this stuff. I actually took my imac back to the apple store. They installed the latest updates. This actually allowed me to install fusion. However I now have another problem. The partition formating is stuck at 20%. I tired to copy the screen to forward to you, but I am new to MAC and on a steep learning curve.

The blue screen reads as follows:

Windows XP Professsional Setup

Please wait while setup formats the partition

C: Partition New 20466 MB ( 20465 MB free)

on 20474 MB Disk 0 at Id on bus 0 on vmscsi MBR

Set up is formatting...

20%

VMWare version 1.1.2

Virtual hard drive SCSI

Using windows easy install

I have all types of XP: OME, retail upgrade

I have a imac

Thanks for you help. the apple store is of little help with the software. VMfusion is also of no help.

Please remember, I know very little about MAC. Any help you can provide should be detailed and not assume I know how to perform things that are basic to you.

Again thx

thx for all your help. with your help I solved the problem. when i tried to load a new virtual machine, i would always get stuck at the same place. I changed the machine from xp professional to home edition and used another CD. this worked. The program works great. I am going to try to give you credit for fixing the problem. If it does not go through, I may need a little help with completing. At the time of my last message, there was a check mark to click on to award you credit, I do not see it now.
