I am trying to create some custom weldment profiles in SolidWorks.

I create the sketch, but then, when I am trying to save it as "Lib Feat Part" .(*sldlfp) I always receive the same message: "This library feature part may contain features that are not related to selected features. Do you want to create a simplified library feature part that does not include unrelated features? Please note that this may cause rebuild errors in this library feature part. Yes / No" Whatever is my answer, then, when trying to use the profile, I get the message "Library Feature is empty.", and I cannot use it... Can someone explain me what am I doing wrong?

Most of the designer come across issue of “Library Feature is Empty” while adding custom weldment profile in part document.

Troubleshooting Steps

In order to troubleshooting issue of “Library Feature is empty” follow below steps.

Step 1: Make sure while saving custom sketch profile as Lib Feat Part (. sldlfp) for use as weldment profile, custom sketch is must be preselected while saving as Lib Feat Part (. sldlfp). refer below image for more information.

Step 2: After preselecting custom sketch profile save them as Lib Feat part in C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS \Lang\English\weldment profiles Location.

This is going to be a real quick post on something I ran across while on Tech Support recently. A user was creating custom Weldment profiles and one was not working. This user was experienced at creating custom profiles, has successfully created several and knew all the details of doing so.

1. The profile was saved correctly as a Library Feature Part (.sldlfp) file.
2. The profile was stored in a folder that contained other custom profiles that work.
3. This folder was set correctly in the SOLIDWORKS File Location for Weldment Profiles.

Yet, when attempting to use the profile in a part file, the following message was returned.

So, what do we do that this point? The folders and files locations all checked out so I opened the Library Feature part containing the custom Weldment Profile information. When looking at the Feature Manager Tree I noticed something missing from the Sketch entry in the tree.

There’s no “L” symbol next to the Sketch which means it’s not part of the Library Features. Even though this part contains the correct sketch information and is saved as the correct file format, it’s technically empty to be used as a Library Feature. And, since Weldments use Library Features for custom profiles, that is why it did not work.

Thankfully, the solution is very easy to accomplish. Just right-click the sketch and choose “Add to Library”.

Once the sketch is added to the library, the elusive “L” symbol is next to the sketch and we simply save the change.

Now you know how to fix not only custom weldment profiles, but any Library Feature that’s coming up “empty.”

Để khắc phục lỗi biên dạng weldment, bạn thực hiện theo các trình tự như hướng dẫn ở dưới.

B1. Mở Part mới & chọn mặt phẳng Front Plane để tạo New Sketch.

B2. Vẽ biên dạng như hình:

B3. Đóng sketch

B4. Trên cây thư mục, chọn sketch ta mới tạo

B5. Giữ nguyên lựa chọn Sketch đó và lưu lại. Chọn File / Save As:

B6. Chọn thuộc tính Lib Feat part (*.sldlfp)

B7. Bây giờ ta phải tạo Folder mới dưới thư mục sau:

C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\lang\english\weldment profiles

Trong thư mục này ta tạo thêm 2 folder mới: Test/ hinh vuong, ta được đường dẫn:

C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS\lang\english\weldment profiles\test\hinh vuong

B8. Ta được:
