Cách 1.

Bước 1: Từ tệp tin PDF bất kì, bạn kích chuột phải vào tệp tin đó chọn Open with ->Choose another app.

Bước 2: Trên cửa sổ lựa chọn ứng dụng đọc file PDF mặc định bạn lựa chọn bất kì ứng dụng nào khác có chức năng đọc PDF và tích vào ô Always use this app to open .pdf files và nhấn OK.

Qua đó bạn có thể lựa ứng dụng mặc định được mở mỗi khi bạn muốn đọc file pdf, gián tiếp tắt tính năng mở file pdf trên trình duyệt Edge Windows 10.

Cách 2.

Bước 1: Nhấn tổ hợp phím Windows + I để mở cửa sổ Windows Settings. Tại cửa sổ Windows Settings nhấn chọn mục System.

Bước 2: Trong mục System tại khung bên trái chọn Default apps.

Bước 3: Ở khung bên phải bạn kéo xuống một chút sẽ thấy lựa chọn Choose default apps by file type. Bạn kích vào lựa chọn này.

Bước 4: Ở cột bên trái bạn tìm đến đuôi .pdf, khi đó bạn sẽ thấy trình duyệt Microsoft Edge được đặt ở cột bên phải là trình duyệt mặc định cho việc đọc pdf. Kích chuột trái vào mục đó và lựa chọn một công cụ khác có khả năng đọc file pdf để thay đổi ứng dụng mặc định đọc file pdf.

In our enterprise, few users (60+) are facing an issue while launching the shortcut Adobe acrobat reader DC, "Invalid Plugin detected. Adobe Acrobat Reader DC will quit".

As mentioned in the Adobe technical forum, downloaded the latest patches from vendor site and installed the same. issue was still persist.

later we had used the Adobe utility removal to cleanup the corrupted installation files. Rebooted. Installed the latest version. issue was still persist.

Finally just renamed the plugin folder from this location, C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\plug_ins and launched the shortcut. it is working as expected.

After successfull launch, changed the folder from plug_ins_rename to plug_ins. launched agian, no issue persist.

Could you please help me to understand why the exisitng plugin files (before deletion) were not working. how do we fix this for large number of users. is there any automated fix for wider deployment?

As soon as I got this error, I restarted the browser but this didn’t helped. Surprisingly the PDF file can be opened without any error on another PDF viewer applications at same time. I then restarted the browser, but still no help. I also uninstalled the loaded extensions in Edge browser, just to ensure that there is no conflict. Then I tried to re-register Microsoft Edge which did the trick.

So if you’re also facing this issue, here’s how you can fix it.

FIX: “Something’s Keeping This PDF From Opening” In Microsoft Edge

FIX 1 – Via Settings App

1. Right click Start Button or press

+ X keys and select Settings.

2. In the Settings app, navigate to Apps > Default apps.

3. Now in Default apps section, click on Choose default apps by file type link.

4. On the next screen, scroll down and look for .pdf (PDF File) and select Microsoft Edge here. If Microsoft Edge is already selected, just re-select it.

Open Microsoft Edge, and see if you can open PDF file now.

If issue still persists, try FIX 2 mentioned below.

FIX 2 – Reset/Re-register Microsoft Edge

Selecting Microsoft Edge as the default PDF app should resolve this issue but in case it didn’t helped you, try to reset Microsoft Edge first.
