Pokemon placed on the top of the gym

Cascarrafa Gym is the fourth Gym we'd recommend taking on as part of the Victory Road pathway and the ninth mission in what we'd consider the optimal path for this walkthrough. This Water-type Gym can be found in Cascarrafa, just past West Province (Area One). Below, we've included information on how to get there, how to prepare for the Gym Test, details on the Gym Leader, and more.

You'll want to fly to the Pokemon Center in West Province (Area One) after defeating the Lurking Steel Titan. This will be by the Team Star Dark Crew Base. With Giacomo defeated, you're now free to travel on the unblocked path toward Cascarrafa.

Follow this path northeast, until you reach the Pokemon Trainer on the right-hand side and you can see the Pokemon Center in front.

When you arrive in Cascarrafa, make your way to the south side of the town. You'll need to find the elevator that sits against the wall, to be taken up to where the Water Gym is.

As you approach, the Gym Leader Kofu will run out of the gym and the person behind the desk will run out after him. It turns out Kofu is in a hurry to collect something from Porto Marinada, and has left his wallet behind. The receptionist from the Gym will give you Kofu's Wallet, telling you that if you return it to him, she'll consider that a pass for the Gym Test.

You can only enter this gym once you have gotten HM 01 - Cut from the S. S. Anne. If you've got it, you need to teach this skill to one of your Pokémon, then walk up to the small tree next to the gym. Press Start and select the Pokémon option. Now pick the Pokémon you taught Cut from the list and select Cut. Voila, the passage is now open. Go through and enter the gym to fight Lt. Surge and his crew. To open the door that leads to Lt. Surge, you need to hit two hidden switches located in the buckets in this room. The switch locations are random, so all you can do is search all the buckets until you find the first switch, then look for the second one right next to it. If you mess up, you need to start over.

The trainers in this gym all use Electric types, so be sure to bring your best Ground or Ground/Rock types along. Think Diglett, Geodude, Sandshrew or their evolutions. The easiest way to take out all the -mites, -orbs or -chus in this stage is to use your Dig technique over and over.
