This is mostly so I'm more efficient in my work, but I also want some music playing in the background. I've tried looking in the settings but I can't find an option for it. That should keep your music going unless you saturate your entire installed memory.

This is due to the tab discarding policy of Chrome OS
https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2015/09/tab-discarding#targetText=Tab%20discarding%20allows%20Chrome%20to,on%20the%20Chrome%20tab%20strip.
It is dependent on the amount of RAM your device has and how many tabs you have open.
Try to keep those tab numbers as low as you can to see if that helps.

When you say "stop" are you saying the whole tab itself is actually crashing, or is the music just pausing? If it's the former, then do as Mike said and try not to open a lot of tabs. Lack of memory will cause tabs to crash. If it's the latter there's nothing you can do about it, it's a function of the particular website. I know for instance, when I'm editing a video with WeVideo, and I'm previewing the video, if I click to another tab, the video preview stops playing. If I click back to the WeVideo tab, the video starts again automatically. Conversely, if I start playing a YouTube video, or Google Play Music song, and I switch to another tab, the video/song continue playing. Different tho. When playing music (from my Watch Later list) frequently a song will REplay OR a new song will start but the tab will continue to show the previous song. After couple years of faultless playback only noticed prob after upgrade to 77...105. I've got Acer CXI3-i38 ChromeBOX with 8GBs, clear cache & usually 3-4 tabs max open. Now..as soon as I return to YouTube tab, song title immediately corrects on tab & songs progress normally. 1/3 to 1/2 time one of the anomalies happens if I'm in another tab while YouTube playing. I would have music playing on spotify or pandora and when I start a separate video (in tab or in a new window) on my Chromebook, the background tab would stop and reload (spotify and pandora would take me back to my home page). After reading the suggestions, I did a complete shut down/restart and my chrome updated. I am no longer having this issue. Good luck to everyone!
