HOW MUCH CAN YOU LEARN IN A MONTH?

I work for a magazine, which was doing an article about Americans learningforeign languages. As a[n] [1] ……….. they asked me to learn a completely newlanguage for one month. Then I had to go to the country and take some “tests” to see[2] ………. I could “survive” in different situations. Television not only entertains people butalso teaches people a variety of important things. Through this wonderful invention welearn about people and events thousands of miles away. Pictures taken in all parts ofthe world are also shown on television for entertainment as well as for instruction.Short films based on popular stories are often shown which entertain millions ofpeople all over the world.

In some countries television is used to offer useful lessons to pupils andstudents in disadvantaged places. As television appeals to the eyes instead of the ears, people enjoy watchingthings on TV more than listening to the radio. Listening for comprehension requiresknowledge of many things, but what we see with our eyes almost directly andpromptly clarify themselves.
