The sony is out of stock at the mo so I'm looking at the sigma. I`m asking as I`ve seem a few have had issues with focus on newer bodies but not seen any comments with the A6000. [the forum search engine is a pain as people have kit listed in signature area instead of the gear list].

Yep, I've been using this combo [a6000 + 30/1.4] for almost a year.
I had both SEL3518 and Sigma 30/1.4 for about a week and I knew I would keep only one of them. I chose Sigma and have never regretted it.
What I liked about Sigma:
- 30mm suits me better; I often found 35mm too narrow,
- sharpness is outstanding at f/1.4; I'd say Sigma at f/1.4 is on par with SEL3518 at f/2.8
- love the color renderition; Sony gave me some purple tint, which I couldn't get rid off in post.
Sony 35/1.8 advantages:
- compact size; Sigma is almost 2x bigger,
- optical stabilization - extremely useful for handheld video; Sigma is unusable without additional stabilizers, eg. steadicam, some rig.
Though I often record video, I've found Sigma a more pleasant lens to use overall.
You don't have to worry about autofocusing. It is accurate and fast, both in natural and artificial light.

I have had this lens for some time & I think this is one of the best lenses on the E Mount. I have recently moved to Fuji & was considering selling my A6000 and kit lenses. This is the only lens that is causing me to reconsider selling my camera. Basically, I won't find a better lens at the same price on any platform... period. If you are looking for a 30mm prime, look no further.
Without this lens, I would be a lost soul in a low light scenario.

Hello, I'm looking to buy a prime lens for my sony a6000. I'm thinking of the sony 35 mm f1.8 or the sigma 30 mm f1.4. I'm more of a still person and I'm not into video so much. I wonder how much the lack of the oss in the sigma compare to the sony, effects the still photography? Cause i understand that it is in video mode. Is it less stable and more blury than the sony?

Just wondering if the Sony FE 28mm f/2.0 would fit the bill for you guys. I use the 28mm on my A6000 and A6300 and love it.

It depends if you will use the lens in low light condition. In daylight you probably don't need the OSS anyway, but you will be able to stop down the Sony more at low light. But then again the Sigma is better than the Sony wide open.
For my the bigger advantage with the Sony is the size, it's much more handy - very similar to the kit lens, while the Sigma demands a bigger bag and is more intrusive at street photo.

If you're mainly into photo, then simpy go for Sigma 30/1.4
It's not too tight, not too wide, lets more light hit the sensor, it's sharper and give more pleasing colors.
