Matthew Stephen-Smith was a contestant on cycle 21 of ANTM in 2014. He was the sixth model eliminated and placed tenth overall.
Early Life[]
Matthew was born in Colorado, and grew up in the outskirts of Denver. He went to high school in a small town called Highlands Ranch. After college, he relocated to Los Angeles in 2011 where he began to work in the entertainment industry. He was in a denim campaign by Robin’s Jeans in 2012.
ANTM[]
In auditions, Matthew was seen as boring to the judges, but redeemed himself the next episode by winning the subway challenge, notably beating Danny, who returned from cycle 20. Later, he corrected Yu Tsai about his name at the promo photoshoot, which Yu interpreted as rude. He later vented his frustration to the other judges. Despite this, Matthew was the sixth model called to the final cast.
In episode three, Mirjana told him that she had a boyfriend, which hurt him since they did a lot of flirting in the house before. After the photoshoot, he defended Adam against her when they got into an argument.
In episode four, he shared an off-screen kiss with Will after a house party. Some of the other models accused him of being bi or gay, to which Matthew defended himself. They were paired together for the Spider Byte romance commercial the very next week.
In episode six, he was on the winning team for the headphone ad challenge. He was eliminated in episode eight over Mirjana due to his lack of facial expressions.

Post-Show[]
After the show, Matthew signed with Twenty Model Management in Cape Town and Joy Models in Milan. His very first magazine gig since the cycle was Harper's Bazaar Vietnam where he posed with Allison Harvard. He was also in I-Fathom, Underwear Experts, MODO, pRIZE, Unleash'd, Runway, Fantasticsmag, Ellements, Adon, Vulkan, Fave and Edgars Club.
Acting & Television[]
Matthew was a model for one episode of SyFy's "Face Off", and acted in "New Girl" and "Stitchers". In 2020, he was a contestant on the Netflix original reality series "Too Hot To Handle".
Other Ventures[]
He has since founded a clothing line called M8W Fashion. He co-authored a children's book called "Windy", released in October 2016. He has also co-founded a multimedia company called DreamKatchers with Keith.
