Add a Map to Pages on iPad

Add some visual aids to your word-processing documents

Updated on November 25, 2021

What to Know

  • From within a Pages document, tap the Plus [+], tap Photo or Video, and choose the image you want to use from your albums.
  • Alternatively, tap Plus [+], select Insert From, and navigate to where the image is stored [Dropbox, iCloud, or another service].
  • The image is inserted into the document wherever you leave your cursor.

Here's how to insert a photo or image into a document in the Apple Pages word-processing program for both macOS and iOS. You'll also learn how to edit your images.

How to Add a Photo in Pages From the Photos App

Start by creating your document from scratch or use a template to create reports, books, letters, flyers, and more. Then, you can insert photos, resize the images, move photos around the page, and add different styles to the border.

  1. Open the document you want to update in Pages. Place the cursor where you'll want to place the image.

  2. Tap the plus sign at the top of the screen.

  3. You'll see several options available. Select Photo or Video.

  4. If this is your first time adding a photo, you'll need to grant permission to Pages to access the images on your device. Otherwise, you'll see a list of the albums in your Photos app. Select one, and then find the image you want to use and tap it.

  5. The picture will appear wherever the cursor was.

How to Add a Photo From Another Source

You don't just have to pick an image from your photo albums. Pages can pull from other places you might be stashing pictures.

  1. In the Add menu [after you tap the plus sign], select Insert from.

  2. A menu will open with the other sources you can access. The list, under the Locations heading, may include cloud storage services like Dropbox and iCloud Drive or your Files app.

  3. If you don't see one of your services listed, tap Edit and turn all of the switches to on/green.

  4. Tap one of the locations to browse the photos there, and then tap it to add it to your document.

How to Edit Pictures You've Placed

After you choose a photo, it will be inserted into the page. But you might want to adjust its size, appearance, or move it to a different place. Here's how to do it.

  1. After you've added a photo, tap it to select.

A selected photo will have blue dots on the sides and corners.

  2. To change the size of the photo, drag one of the blue dots. As you resize, a display will show how big the image is.

The image will scale as you resize it; the width and height will stay the same relative to each other regardless of which handle you use.

  3. To center the image, drag it left or right. Once it is perfectly in the middle of the page, it'll snap to an orange line.

  4. You can also move the photo elsewhere on the page, and the text will automatically wrap around it.

  5. Pages also includes style adjustments for images. Select the photo, and then tap the paintbrush icon in the upper-right corner.

Under the Style menu that pops up, you can do things like add borders and shadows, reflect the image, and make it more transparent.

  6. Use all of these tools together to get your document and images looking exactly how you want them.

Location History is a Google Account–level setting that saves where you go with every mobile device where:

  • You're signed in to your Google Account,
  • You have turned on Location History, and
  • The device has Location Reporting turned on.

When you turn on Location History, you may see a number of benefits across Google products and services, including personalized maps, recommendations based on places you’ve visited, help finding your phone, real-time traffic updates about your commute, and more useful ads.

  • Location History is turned off by default for your Google Account and can only be turned on if you opt in.
  • You can pause Location History at any time in your Google Account's Activity controls.
  • You control what’s saved in your Location History. You can view the places where you’ve been in Google Maps Timeline, which you can edit or use to delete your Location History.

See & manage your Location History in Timeline

  1. Go to your Timeline.
  2. At the top left, choose the time period you want to see.

Delete Location History

You can manage and delete your Location History information with Google Maps Timeline . You can choose to delete all of your history, or only parts of it.

Important: When you delete Location History information from Timeline, you won't be able to see it again.

Automatically delete your Location History

You can choose to automatically delete Location History that’s older than 3 months, 18 months, or 36 months.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app .
  2. Tap your profile picture or initial

     Your Timeline .
  3. In the top right, tap More
    Settings.
  4. Under "Location settings," tap Automatically delete Location History.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

What happens after you delete some or all Location History

If you delete some or all of your Location History, some personalized experiences across Google may be degraded or lost. For example:

  • Albums in Google Photos automatically created from places you’ve visited
  • Recommendations based on places you’ve visited
  • Real-time information about the best time to leave for home or work in order to beat the traffic

Important: If you have other settings like Web & App Activity turned on and you pause Location History or delete location data from Location History, you may still have location data saved in your Google Account as part of your use of other Google sites, apps, and services. For example, location data may be saved as part of activity on Search and Maps when your Web & App Activity setting is on, and included in your photos depending on your camera app settings.

Turn Location History on or off

Common issues with location services

Availability

Location History may not be available if:

  • It's not available in your region.
  • You don't meet certain age restrictions.
  • Your Google Account is through your work, school, or other group. Your administrator might need to make this setting available for you.

  • Background App Refresh allows Location Reporting to work when you're not actively using a Google app.

Data use

Location History can use a lot of data. Before using this feature, review the data plan of your device.
