So….. The palette was released somewhere in 2013 and I wanted one ever since I saw it first on tumblr in early months of 2014.

In 2015 I was browsing ebay, and suddenly wild, cheap, Galaxy Chic Palette appears. I wasn’t aware of the amount of fake cosmetics on ebay back then, or maybe I assumed it might be a fake one and didn’t care. I ordered it, and waited patiently. It was my first ever ebay purchase and it was a big deal for me. One month later it came! I was really excited about it. I payed 6.70 eur for it and used it for a while. I loved the dark red shades and the light purples the most. But with time I got really disenchanted with the product, my favorite eyeshadows got this hard film on top of the pans and it was really hard to get the product on the brush without wetting it first. I have found that some other brand’s eyeshadows do that too.

Eventually I have convinced myself that I need a real one. And a couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon a sale on bh cosmetics website and purchased the real one for only around 17 eur. I just had to know what all the buzz was about and what I was missing.

And now that I have both – the fake and the real version, there is the comparison:

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? Real palette on top and fake on the bottom.

1.Real 2. Fake

I believe the Real palette used to have the same cover and sleeve as the fake one in this picture, back when it was released. I assume the change was intentional move from bh cosmetics to separate the real palettes from all the fakes floating online.

It’s so bizzare that the fake palette even has the real custumer support number for bh cosmetics company. So savage. Maybe thats how bh found out about the fakes?

Fake one on top, real on the bottom

You can see the craters on The Moon, Mars [no puns intended] and Prometheus and Aphrodite on the fake one, where I struggled to dig into the pan to get some pigment on the brush.

Apparently just as I suspected, bh cosmetics changed the whole packaging and a couple of shade names since 2013, as I was researching my theory, I found a review made about real palette back in 2013. The names and the packaging match the fake palette that I have, but the swatches are obviously much more similar to the real one I own.

I really enjoyed the fake palette, and for it’s price it wasn’t that bad, I actually prefer a few shades in the fake palette from the real one.

But let’s be honest, I’m going to use real palette more, it’s just more pigmented, eyeshadow formula is way more soft and easy to apply. Also now I low-key wanna try other BH products.

In conclusion, fake makeup isn’t always worth it. At the moment I haven’t found any fake Galaxy Chic palettes available to buy anymore. But there still are loads of Kylie, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Morphe Cosmetics fake palettes on ebay and Aliexpress. I may or may have not bought one or two. Maybe I’ll review them in the future.
